Privacy Policy

Acute understands the importance of privacy to you. Acute has adopted this Privacy Policy as we recognise the right of our clients to keep their personal information private.

This Privacy Policy covers treatment of personally identifiable information that we collect or hold. Acute must comply with the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act in dealing with personal information.

  1. The information we collect
    Acute may collect information about you, such as your name, contact details, tax file number, Australian Business Number, etc. Where practicable, the purpose for which we collect personal information and the consequences of not providing it will be made clear at the time of collection.
  2. How we use your information
    Acute will use the personal information we collect for the purpose disclosed at the time of collection, or otherwise as set out in this Privacy Policy. We will not use your personal information for any other purpose without first seeking your consent, unless authorised or required by law. Generally we will only use and disclose your personal information:
    • to establish and maintain your relationship as our client;
    • to provide the services you have requested from us;
    • for direct marketing of our products or services and to keep you informed of new developments we believe may be of interest to you. If we contact you in this way without obtaining your prior consent, we will provide you with the opportunity to decline any further marketing communications.
  3. Access to your information
    You can access the personal information that Acute holds about you by logging into our secure website from our home page or contacting our offices. We will provide you with access to your personal information unless we are legally authorised to refuse your request. A fee may be charged for providing this access.
    If you wish to change personal information that is out of date or inaccurate at any time please contact us. After notice from you, we will take reasonable steps to correct any of your information which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date in a reasonable amount of time. If you wish to have your personal information deleted, please let us know and we will delete that information wherever practicable.
    We may refuse your request to access, amend or delete your personal information in certain circumstances. If we do refuse your request, we will provide you with a reason for our decision. In the case of amendment, we will note with your personal information that you have queried its accuracy and your request for amendment has been refused.
  4. Security
    Acute will take reasonable steps to keep secure any personal information which we hold and to keep this information accurate and up to date. Personal information is stored in a secure server or secure files.
  5. Data Retention
    Acute will not retain your personal information longer than is necessary for the purposes collected.
  6. Government Identifiers
    Acute does not use your Tax File Number, Australian Business Number and any other government identifiers as your account number. We will only use and disclose these for the purposes required by law.
  7. Complaints about Breaches of Privacy
    If you believe that the privacy of your information has been or is not being adequately protected, you should contact our offices. We will make every effort to resolve your complaint internally.
    If we do not resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may apply to the Federal Privacy Commissioner to have your complaint investigated.
